FRAUD. Cancelled my policy but they keep pulling money from my account

I was in process of purchasing a new vehicle and contacted the general for fast auto insurance. They processed my payment but never emailed/mailed me any documents to sign or show that I actually had insurance so I could take my new car home. The customer service was inefficient and I cancelled my policy within 4 hrs and went with State Farm. My money was refunded then 3 days later without my consent pulled my initial policy amount from my bank account. I have called 5x, sent countless emails and and was told that my claim was cancelled the same day but my refund is in a no refund status. I am on day 12 of my repeated calls only to have someone tell me they will send a email to their supervisor. I never even signed a contract with this company and did not authorize them to continue to process payments on a closed policy. I have reported them to the Texas Dept of Insurance and have contacted my bank blocking them from pulling any more funds.

Great price BUT you get what ya pay for-NOTHING

I paid for insurance on two vehicles for a year in advance. June 21st , I ran over debris and ultimately found out the center support bearing got broken in two places. Because insurance adjusters are prohibited from bending over to look under a vehicle for safety reasons (I kid you not), this was not included in the estimate. Now I’m told that my car needs to be up and taken apart for the adjuster to see the main damage! Please show me ONE body shop willing to do this when The General can’t give any estimate of what time the adjuster might show up. After all, the body shop has other cars to work on right? Not to mention that because of prior problems with The General, there’s a chance that The General won’t pay any time soon and now the poor shop would be on the hook because my car is up in the air taken apart! The General informs me that the body shop is at fault because ‘they have their feet in the sand ‘ and ‘they aren’t following The Generals (impossible) guidelines. And, the worst part, it’s taken SEVEN weeks just to get this far! Because I needed that particular vehicle for work, I’m no longer working. The General told me if I had rental coverage, it could have been fixed by now (probably because that’s a big bill they would hate to pay). I know ask a supervisor at The General who they are licensed under I. The state of Washington. His reply was he didn’t understand my question. THAT was the last straw! The ANSWER to my question is The Insurance Commissioner of WA State who actually wrote The General the same day. Low and behold,,,,,,The General is overnighting a check to get my car fixed. Unfortunately, the damage is done. I went through my savings to pay the bills because without my vehicle for a month and a half, I’m no longer working. Please remember, The General blames ME for not getting the rental coverage. In my defense, I NEVER thought it would take more than a few days, NOT MONTHS to cut through their ‘policies ‘ and get my vehicle fixed. I’m livid and now I’m trying to figure out if I’m going to have to fight with this ‘insurance company ‘ that I PAID to protect my vehicls and my interest. ANY advice will be very much appreciated. I’m financially ruined because of their games! Why did it take The Insurance Commissioner to step in to make The General do their job. As of today, it’s my understanding that because I missed my first appointment with the body shop, there is still a two week waiting list to get my car fixed. That’s well over two months. Please, ANY advice in this is seriously appreciated

Beware of the General (fraudsters)

This company has great advertisement, but when it comes to service, it’s a 1star. They raised my rates, so I decided to cancel them & get insurance through a competitor at a much better price.

I gave them notice & moved on with new policy, but they continued to charge me & tack on fees for services that they never provided. Called them numerous times to dispute & got nowhere. They continued to keep charging me & put me in Collections, were they attempted to damage my credit unless I paid their ransom.

They did damage my credit over some made up charges & now I am seeking legal counsel to hold them accountable for what they did. Beware of this company & really do your homework.

My insurance lapsed and I got no notification. I assumed I still had insurance since the general was still taking money out of my account every month. When I realized I did not and called them, they said they would reinstate it. When I went to get my car inspected I learned they never reinstated it but of course took money out every month. When I called them and demanded my money back they said they couldn’t unless I proved I had insurance elsewhere. I had got new insurance through a legitimate insurance company that had backed dated it to my first expiration. They then refused to send the money back anyway because they had insured me. I had to then prove they were not insuring me but making auto withdraws from my bank. They then reported me to penndot

Long story short;

I had to sue them for my money to get returned.

I had to go to court to prove to penndot that I was not driving without insurance.

I had to close my bank account because they till the end kept trying to make auto-withdraws.

This company is shady.

I received 2 tickets because they never entered proof of insurance into the state database and you can never get no one on the phone to speak with about it

Customer service called me to fix the problem, he gave me instructions and I followed them too the T. Come to find out the rep.

Didn’t know all the info he took and gave was half right, half wrong and because of what he did with the info I didn’t have insurance for a whole month then I call them and they tell me even though the rep.

Messed up I have to start it all over!.. that’s not even the bad part.....they took my money and lied to me and said they refunded it but the bank says different and now I can’t drive my vehicle until the give my money back and the bank does there whole process....HORRIBLE INSURANCE COMPANY DO NOT GIVE THEM BENEFIT OF THE DOUNT LIKE I DID YOU WILL BE SORRY I PROMISE

Tornado damage

Vehical got damaged by a tornado and they are refusing to pay to have it fixed or replaced. Now they want the car torn apart so they can see what needs to be replaced. This has been going on for over a month. This company is a joke and they are nothing but SCAMMERS.

Will Even Insure People in Posession of Stolen Vehicles

I reached out to The General Insurance company on several occassions to let them know they are insuring vehicles for a person who stole them from my business. Each time, the agent told me that I would have to speak with a specialist in their company who dumped me into a voicemail each time which has no name announcement or message. And by the way, no return calls. This has to be a form of fraud!

Guilty of Fraud

It's all fun and games and think you're getting a good deal til you're actually sitting on the side of the road with flat tire in 90 degree heat, 7pm at night, late for someplace you're supposed to be at, and this clown-ass bulls*** company after 40 minute on Hold tells you too bad... yes you purchased roadside assistance for towing coverage but it only covers you if you're in an accident... not a flat tire. What?? Then gave me 3 different customer service numbers to call a 3rd party company if I wanted an exception. It was much quicker to just call a tow company any pay it out of pocket than spend 2 hours on the phone on side of the road stranded far from home and it's getting dark. Worst company ever and guilty of fraud.

The General is the worst company ever I was in a comperhinsive accident on April 04 2018 and the refuse to pay the auto body shop all the money after the auto body shop was sent an estimate and General has not honored it and refuses to honor it don’t not ever get the General insurance if you do bent over take it up the tail pipe cause I promise that’s what there gonna do screw you in the buttcuss

This is to follow-up on my post. Three weeks and a couple of days later I finally received a word from my adjuster telling me that the insured admitted of hitting me.

He gave me the estimate, which is a fair estimate. I received the check in the mail few days later....

I was hit from front while stopping at a stop light. The car in front of me backed-up hastily, then took off when the light turned green. Luckily I had the license #. The police was able to get hold of the driver and he admitted of hitting me. The police gave me his name, DOB, address, and insurance policy information.
I didn't file charges against him. MISTAKE #1: Never Never Never show compassion to criminals.
Contacted The General, and it's been almost 3 weeks and they refused to repair my car because "we cannot get a hold of the insured." How is the world do they think I've his information?
This company is a total rip-off. Worthless. I'm thinking of writing a complaint to the insurance commissioner in California to have their license revoked.

I received the check in the mail few days later.Overall I would give this company a 3.5 star rating.

I deduct half a star for having to wait about 40 minutes to talk to a claim representative. One star for the long waiting period to settle the claim.

First year went by fine nice and cheap. Now time to renew and my bill went up which is wierd because in my experience mine has always went down because ima good driver and dont wreck. So i call and they lady says its a PA state revision so i ask how much. She goes 40 cents a month which is like 50bucks a year. Lol do the math. So i put in for a new quote nd its cheaper than last year go figure. So i call get the same answer and ask to talk to a supervisor and get the pleasure of talking with mr taylor who needs hs all over again. I ask him why if the state revision is 40cent a month did my bill go up that much. He says we have no control of that so the 3rd time i ask him again the same question but more in depth and he goes thats a totally different question smh. then had me on hold for 10 min nd was acting like a child would not answer me so im done never again. Please watch yourselves they are some scammers. And o yea he said i had to write a letter to cancel my insurance like what?

Truck totaled

at a boat launch my dodge dakota, slipped down and into water,to the seats, I was able to get back home, trans was filled with water,

needs transmission and some elec sensors, otherwise is good,

I owe 10,000 upside down on loan, 2006 dakota 70,000 miles like new condition, everything works perfect. I just cant believe this, I have had bad depression from this, very upsetting for me,, and

general totaled, this just happened, I dont know what will happen next,. the truck is fixable, Im sorry I used general, they dont return calls, and send me a copy of my policy.

I cant buy another truck til , this loan is settled. it cant be a total loss,

You can "buy" it back from the insurance company, ask how much to keep the truck. Usually it is about $500 to keep the truck and they will pay you the difference.

Still have not paid no communication

Had an accident on 04/05/2018 took them for ever to even communicate after the claim was filled and the process was started then an investigator called asking questions about a prior damage I explained send him the information needed he made contact a few days later said everything was fine I would hear from my adjuster in 24 to 48 hours that never came i made contact 2 weeks later finally got rolling on it on a 2908 estimate the only estimate seen by my self or the body shop and The General changed the estimate with out letting any one know no emails to the body shop or my self so 86 days later I still have no car there all crooks liars thieves

Yes i contacted them for overcharging me with my excellent driving record they charge me $90 dollars and deny payments i made. When i mentioned i have cancer and cant pay large bills having medicare only pays 80% of chemo treatments and we pay the rest which the Cysplatin therapy i take is $25,000 so i sent them proof of this and they basically said screw you, after being an over paying loyal customer only complaining for over paying

As I told you I will not stop until you resolve this, you treat loyal customers with illness which I rarely drive but don't want to be illegal like a tick. You have terrible, non English speaking customer service and I explained I cannot hear do to my medical treatment which took away my hearing.

I'd like to thank you for your compassion, your rudeness and non willingness to work with a person and get your records straight, I am up to date on my payment, or why would the website ask me if I really wanted to make a payment. Thanks

When you call the General they will give you a super low rate with the lowest minimum that is allowed by law for you to have car insurance I have really had problems with Progressive trying to get the same payment date every month so I called The General I have a 100 / 300,000 which is more than the minimum with Progressive my payment is 95 a month so when I call the General for a quote and he said it would be 48 a month plus $10 for Towing and 11 months payments at 57 a month I took my confirmation number and was going to go through with the steel even if it was just it State minimum when I called and talked to a representative from The General he had a *** attitude couldn't use my homeowner's discount because I was in the process of moving for another job and I swear he checked with Progressive because now my payment went to $95 a month and it wasn't even half the coverage that I was getting with Progressive but the funny thing about it he would give me the 23rd of the month the perfect date for me to make sure my payment is paid on time so I went from 57 a month to $95 with the general and super *** coverage no thank you General and you're representative you should fire I hope someone reads this

What's odd is that when I try to get a quote from "The General". I get sent to the Progressive site.

Happened over and over. I giveup on them both.

That's odd, because Progressive is grossly overpriced and underserviced as well ; why not find a real insurance company with a local rep and quit getting sucked in by TV commercials ?
